I know, that you can use either a knitting pin or a tooth stick for testing, if your cake is finished or need some time in the oven. However, when I found this cake tester during my last business trip to US, I decided it would be the perfect souvenir for me, instead of a T-shirt or ash tray or another souvenir without any practical use.
I also use this cake tester as holder for the paper tea bag, while making tea !!!!! So multi functionality :-))
